About Lucy

Lucy is a registered member of both the BACP and the CDI, and serves on the BACP Expert Reference Group, contributing to the development of a competency framework for counselling adults affected by adoption.

As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I don't offer quick fixes. My role is to listen, offer unconditional support, and gently challenge you when needed. Together, we’ll explore your experiences and develop practical tools to help you move forward - building resilience, confidence and self-awareness along the way.

I specialise in support people through relationship issues, bereavement and grief, navigating wealth, career transitions and retirement, ADHD, adult adoption experiences, and living with illness. I also work with stress, anxiety depression and loneliness, whether these are long-standing or have recently intensified.

While friends and family can be a comfort, sometimes you need a fresh perspective. I offer a confidential space to help you deepen your self-understanding and make decisions that feel right for you. Therapy isn't just for times of crisis - sometimes, having space to talk things through is the first step â€‹â€‹towards change.

My experience includes private practice with a diverse range of clients, as well as volunteering with organisations such as Young Minds, Princes Trust, and The Mulberry Centre, supporting cancer patients, carers, families, and the bereaved.

You are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, offering support and guidance as you navigate your unique path. If you are ready to take the next step, get in touch - I'd be delighted to work with you. Let’s work together to create positive change and help you build a life that feels authentic, fulfilling, and aligned with your values.

Stress, Anxiety & Depression

You might find yourself overwhelmed by stress, struggling with persistent worry or feeling a deep sense of sadness or hopelessness that can become isolating.

In our integrative counselling sessions, I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space to explore these feelings.

Together, we'll work to identify triggers, challenge negative thought patterns and gently shift your focus to recognise what is going well at the same time as developing personalised coping strategies.

My goal is to help you build resilience and rebuild a sense of purpose in your life.

Bereavement, Grief & Loss

If you're struggling with grief after losing a loved one or someone with whom you had a complex relationship, you might feel overwhelmed, stuck, or feeling guilty about moving on. This can be an unbearably lonely time.

I offer a safe, compassionate space to explore your emotions, process your loss, and navigate grief's challenging stages.

Together, we'll develop healthy coping strategies, find meaning, and help you move forward while honouring your loved one's memory.

3.

Friends & Family Relationships

Relationships with friends, family, romantic partners, and colleagues can be intricate and emotionally charged. You might find yourself struggling to set clear boundaries, communicate authentically, or feel genuinely heard.

Our therapeutic journey will delve into these complex dynamics, uncovering underlying patterns and developing more constructive coping strategies.

We'll focus on empowering you to establish healthier boundaries, enhance communication skills, and cultivate deeper, more meaningful connections across all areas of your personal and professional life.

4.

Navigating Wealth

Managing wealth is about much more than finances—it’s about trust, authenticity, confidentiality, and the quality of your relationships.

I offer a warm, supportive space where you can explore the pressures and expectations that come with wealth, including how beliefs passed down through generations may differ from your own or those of younger family members. We can also look at the unique challenges wealth can bring to friendships and connection.

My aim is to help you clarify your values and make confident, authentic decisions about your future, while feeling truly understood, respected, and supported every step of the way

5.

Adult Adoptees

I have a special interest in working with adults affected by adoption.

I understand that adoption can bring up complex emotions and unique challenges, including issues such as identity, feelings of rejection, loss, and belonging as well as supporting reunion and post reunion adjustments.  â€‹

We can reflect on your adoption journey and find meaning in your experiences.

This can lead to greater self-awareness and resilience, helping you achieve a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Therapy Sessions

My Approach

In our sessions, I focus on what’s most helpful for you right now—whether that’s understanding patterns from the past, making sense of current challenges, or finding practical ways forward. I draw on a range of approaches, including psychodynamic therapy, ACT, CBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused therapy, so we can tailor our work to what feels right for you.

A common thread for many people is the presence of a harsh inner critic—the critical voice that questions your worth, highlights your mistakes, or tells you you’re not good enough. Together, we’ll learn to recognise this inner critic, understand where it comes from, and develop kinder, more balanced ways of relating to yourself. This can be a powerful step towards greater self-compassion and confidence.

Depending on what brings you to counselling, we might look at things like self-esteem, attachment, cultural identity, trauma, or life transitions. I’m experienced in supporting clients from all walks of life, and I aim to offer a space where you can explore things openly and at your own pace.

My style is warm, practical, and non-judgemental. I believe therapy should be useful—so alongside reflection, I’ll offer tools and strategies you can use between sessions, such as setting boundaries and practising self-care. You set the agenda, and together we’ll work towards whatever changes matter most to you, building on your strengths and resources.

Benefits of Remote Counselling

Remote counselling makes therapy more accessible, flexible, and comfortable—wherever you are. You can connect with professional support from home, work, or anywhere you feel safe, removing the barriers of distance, travel, or mobility.

Why clients choose remote counselling with me:

  • Accessible wherever you are:
Whether you live in a rural area, have limited transport, or face health or mobility challenges, remote sessions mean support is always within reach.

  • Fits around your life:
No commuting or waiting rooms—just therapy that fits your schedule, including options outside standard office hours. It’s easier to make space for your wellbeing, even with a busy or unpredictable routine.

  • Comfort and privacy:
Many people find it easier to open up from the comfort of their own home. Remote sessions can feel less intimidating and more private, helping you talk more freely and honestly.

  • Consistent support, whatever life brings:
If you’re travelling, relocating, or facing unexpected events (like illness or severe weather), remote counselling means you don’t have to pause your progress. Support continues, wherever life takes you.

  • Inclusive and sensory-friendly:
Remote sessions can be especially helpful if you’re neurodivergent or find traditional therapy spaces overwhelming. They also suit those who feel anxious about in-person meetings.

  • Better for the planet:
Skipping the journey to therapy reduces your carbon footprint—a small but positive step for the environment.

Remote counselling isn’t the right fit for everyone, but for many it’s a practical, supportive way to access therapy. If you’re curious, I’m happy to talk through what might work best for you
