About Lucy

As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I help people navigate times of change, grief and loss - whether through bereavement, relationship difficulties, adoption, health changes, career shifts or other life events. My focus is on understanding the whole person and the unique story behind their experience.

I am a registered member of the BACP and serve on the BACP Expert Reference Group, contributing to the development of a competency framework for counselling adults affected by adoption.

Therapy with me isn’t about quick fixes. It’s a collaborative space where I listen deeply, offer unconditional support, and gently challenge you when needed. Together, we’ll explore your experiences and find what might help day to day - building resilience, confidence and greater self-awareness along the way.

I work with individuals facing relationship issues, bereavement and grief, relationship issues, major life transitions such as retirement or career change, ADHD and adult adoption experiences as well as the impact of living with illness. I also support people who are feeling stressed, anxious, depressed or lonely, whether this has been present for a long time or has become more intense recently.

I am also a couples therapist, supporting partners to understand each other more clearly and develop practical ways of coping together when things feel hard. In our work, we pay attention to the patterns between you, what gets in the way of feeling close, and how you can respond differently so that difficult moments feel more manageable and less lonely.

While friends and family can be a source of comfort, sometimes you need a space that’s just for you, somewhere confidential and non-judgemental, where you can pause, reflect and gain a new perspective. Therapy isn’t only for moments of crisis; it can also be a chance to reconnect with yourself and begin making choices that feel right for you.

My experience includes private practice with a diverse range of clients, alongside voluntary work with organisations such as Young Minds, The Prince’s Trust, and The Mulberry Centre, supporting cancer patients, carers, families, and people who are bereaved.

You are the expert on your own life. My role is to walk alongside you, offering empathy, insight, and support as you navigate your unique path. If you’re ready to take the next step, get in touch. I’d be delighted to work with you. Together we can create positive change and help you build a life that feels authentic, fulfilling and aligned with your values.

1.

Stress, Anxiety & Depression

Stress, anxiety and depression can creep into every part of life, leaving you feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or alone.

You might find yourself caught in constant worry, feeling low or numb, or struggling to keep going even when everything looks “fine” from the outside. In our integrative counselling sessions,

I offer a calm, non-judgemental space to explore what is going on for you.

Together, we’ll look at what may be triggering these feelings and develop realistic coping strategies to help you feel more grounded and supported.

2.

Bereavement, Grief & Loss

Grief can follow many kinds of loss: the death of someone close, the end of a relationship, estrangement, health changes, or the future you thought you would have.

You might feel overwhelmed, guilty, stuck, or unsure if you’re “doing grief right”, and it can feel incredibly lonely.

In our sessions, you can bring your loss exactly as it is, without pressure to be okay or to move on.

Together, we’ll make sense of what you’re feeling and explore what might help life feel a little more bearable.

Over time, we can also look at how you want to carry this loss alongside the rest of your life.

3.

Relationships
& Couples
Therapy

Relationships with partners, family, friends or colleagues can be a huge source of support, but they can also feel stuck, painful or confusing.

You might notice the same arguments playing out, struggle to feel heard, or find it hard to say what you really need.

In individual therapy, we can explore these patterns and where they may have come from, so you have more choice in how you respond.

In couples therapy, the focus is on understanding what happens between you when things feel difficult and finding new ways of talking and listening, so that you can cope with challenges together rather than feeling alone in them.

4.

Life Changes Professionals &
HNW Wealth

Life changes such as redundancy, retirement, career shifts or caring roles can leave you feeling unmoored and unsure who you now are.

You may be adjusting to a new role, or living with a version of life that feels very different from the one you imagined.

For many professionals, including family lawyers, there can also be the weight of responsibility and emotionally demanding work that requires discretion.

In HNW family settings, managing and living with wealth and expectations can add another layer of pressure.

Therapy offers a confidential space to explore these situations and what they mean enabling you to make choices that feel more authentic and manageable.

5.

Adult Adoptees & Adoption
Experiences

Adoption can shape

identity and

relationships in deep

and often lifelong ways.

You might be living

with questions about

who you are, feelings

of rejection or “not

quite belonging”, or

navigating search,

reunion or the

adjustments that

follow.

These experiences can

be hard to put into

words, especially if

others expect you to

be “grateful” or see

adoption as only a

positive story.

In our work together,

there is space to

explore your

adoption story at your

own pace, make sense

of how it affects you

now, and support a

steadier, more

compassionate sense

of self.

Therapy Sessions

My Approach

In our sessions, the focus is on what feels most helpful for you right now - whether that’s understanding patterns from the past, making sense of current challenges, or finding practical ways forward in day-to-day life. I use an integrative approach, drawing on psychodynamic therapy, ACT, CBT, mindfulness and solution-focused ideas, so we can shape the work to fit you rather than the other way round.

I work with both individuals and couples. In couples sessions, the focus is on what happens between you when things feel difficult, and finding safer, more honest ways of talking and listening so you can face challenges together rather than feeling alone in them.

For many people, a harsh inner critic plays a big part - that familiar voice that questions your worth, points out your mistakes or tells you you’re not “good enough”. Together, we’ll learn to notice this voice, explore where it may have come from, and develop kinder, more balanced ways of relating to yourself. This can be an important step towards greater self-compassion and confidence.

Depending on what brings you to counselling, we might look at things like self-esteem, attachment, cultural identity, trauma, or life transitions. I work with clients from many different backgrounds and aim to offer a space where you can explore things openly, at your own pace and without pressure to be any particular way.

My style is warm, down-to-earth and non-judgemental. Therapy also needs to feel useful, so alongside reflection I will often offer ideas and tools you can try between sessions - for example around boundaries, self-care or communication. You set the agenda, and together we’ll work towards the changes that matter most to you, building on your strengths and resources.

Benefits of Remote Counselling

Remote counselling can make therapy easier to access, more flexible, and more comfortable - wherever you are. You can meet from home, work, or any private space, without the stress of travel or finding extra time in your day. Many people choose remote counselling because it fits around their life. There’s no commute or waiting room, just a regular time set aside for you. This can be especially helpful if you have caring responsibilities, a demanding job, or an unpredictable schedule.

Working online can also feel less daunting. Being in your own space can make it easier to talk openly and honestly, and can be particularly supportive if you feel anxious about in-person appointments or find busy environments overwhelming.

Remote therapy offers continuity too. If you’re travelling, relocating, or dealing with illness you don’t have to pause your sessions - support can continue, wherever life takes you. And by cutting out journeys, it’s also a small but positive step for the environment.

Remote counselling isn’t right for everyone, but for many people it’s a practical, supportive way to access therapy. If you’re unsure, we can talk together about what might work best for you.
